Rumen bloat, or tympany

Bloat (ruminal tympany) is a disease that often occurs in cattle. It is accompanied by gas formation; in other words, “the cow’s stomach swells and she refuses to eat”. If the animal is not helped quickly, it may die, but bloat is easy to diagnose, and the disease can be avoided with preventive measures.

Bloat is caused by an abrupt switch to milk-free feeding, as well as by giving animals rapidly fermenting feed, such as poor-quality compound feed, sour and moldy feed, wet young grass or cut grass that has not been dried, frozen potatoes and beets.

Once such feed enters the stomach, it quickly begins to ferment and disrupts the microflora of the rumen. As gas builds up, the rumen expands considerably and begins to compress internal organs such as the heart and lungs.

The amino acids contained in AL KARAL restore digestive processes in the rumen, improve nutrient absorption and increase the body’s natural resistance to infectious diseases.

The AL KARAL feed additive inhibits the growth and development of putrefactive processes in the gastrointestinal tract and, thanks to its antibacterial and antiseptic action, prevents bloat.
